ACFC x VLB: A Cultural Collaboration Rooted in Community
As the lead on this end-to-end collaboration between Angel City Football Club and Latinx-owned brand Viva La Bonita, I drove the project from initial concept through contract negotiation, campaign production, and launch execution.
This partnership was born from authenticity—VLB Founder Rachel Gomez had already left her mark by designing the Pride hit on our 2023 jersey. Building on that momentum, we developed a capsule collection of five unique styles, including a standout pair of hoops—marking ACFC’s first foray into jewelry—and a beloved classic from VLB’s signature catalog.
I worked hands-on with the VLB team and their graphic designer to ensure both brands were represented in a way that felt organic, powerful, and story-forward. Our visual language avoided overt branding, instead focusing on emotional resonance and cultural storytelling.
Inspired by multi-generational backyard gatherings common in Latinx households, our campaign leaned into themes of aspiration and community. We cast a diverse range of ages to reflect our extended “model” family, centering the narrative around a young girl dreaming of becoming a professional athlete—anchored in the message: “Your Dreams Are Your Wings.”
This collaboration not only celebrated Latinx heritage but also deepened our connection with a key audience, delivering impact both culturally and commercially.
